“The next time I’ll post in a relationship is when I’m married” – Angel Reese explains why she keeps her dating life completely private

Famous athletes post just about everything on social media these days. Whatever the intention behind it, that’s simply become the norm.

Want to know a player’s favorite food? Favorite TV show? Who are they dating? Fans can usually find that stuff online without much trouble. Not that last one, though. At least not always.

Just look at Angel Reese.

Her social media presence (Instagram, for instance) won’t tell you much about who she’s romantically involved with. Why? The WNBA superstar talked about that during an episode of “Unapologetically Angel” back in November 2024.

Reese weighted on dating a shorter man

During that episode, Reese had American fashion stylist Law Roach on. The two got into an interesting 45-minute conversation that touched on dating, too.

Reese, for instance, discussed the hypothetical of dating someone shorter than her. She stands 6’4″. The average height for an American man is around 5’9″.

Studies show that most heterosexual couples follow the “male-taller norm.” But research also indicates men tend to be more open to dating taller women than women are to dating shorter men. Reese? She hasn’t made up her mind. She said she doesn’t know if she’d date someone shorter, admitting she’s “too scared.”

Scared, too, are the opponents the Chicago Sky cornerstone faces. Reese, after all, is a three-time All-Star. She was drafted first overall in 2024 out of LSU. Since then, Bayou Barbie has averaged a staggering 14.9 points and 12.7 boards a night.

Reese’s aforementioned on-court dominance? It helped her go viral a few times. Back then, though, it was for a different reason. It came after a post on X, formerly Twitter, from the then-22-year-old.

“Now i see why people hide relationships & keep everything private 😭 like i don’t think i’ll ever openly share that part of my life with yall again until im married cause yall do THE MOST!” she wrote, per “Sports Illustrated.”

It sounded like a pretty reasonable stance as is. Still, Reese wasn’t done making her point. She doubled down on it a few episodes later. The episode aired in early January 2025 and featured actress and internet personality Pretty Vee.

“I think the next time I’ll post I’m in a relationship [on social media] is when I’m married,” Bayou Barbie said. “And that’s some time from now, so you ain’t gonna see it.”

“You might see me on a date. You gonna have to catch me though,” she continued. “Like, I’m not gonna post a man on my page.”

A few days later, the lefty forward put it all to bed with another post.

“The next time I’ll post in a relationship is when I’m married,” Reese wrote.

As for that stance about not wanting to post her man until he’s her husband, the 2023 NCAA champion might just do it nowadays anyway. After all, it’s now well known who she’s involved with. Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr.

The pair first sparked rumors of a relationship in early 2025. They went public later that year after Carter attended her birthday celebration and supported her courtside.

That relationship? It follows another famous WNBA-NBA couple. A’ja Wilson and the Miami Heat big man first sparked dating rumors in 2024. About two years later, it seems like the Miami Heat big man is getting ready to pop the question.
