John Joseph Pine III, 43, was found in his cell about 4 p.m. Saturday by prison staff, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said. Pine, who was serving a 21-year sentence for assault with a deadly weapon and infliction of great bodily injury, was alone in the cell, prison officials said in a statement.
Pine arrived at Folsom State Prison in November 2018.
Corrections officers tried to revive Pine and called emergency personnel, who took him to a prison triage area, where treatment continued, officials said.
