Stephanie White was part of Team USA’s coaching staff at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. She served as one of Kara Lawson’s assistants, helping the national team capture its fifth straight world championship.

At her first practice with the Indiana Fever since returning to the U.S., White addressed her decision to leave her staff in charge of the team while she was in Berlin.
Team USA went 6-0 in the tournament, including a 97-79 victory over France in the gold medal game. The Fever were also represented by Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.
White revealed that she watched Indiana’s filmed practices while on national duty. However, she stressed her trust in assistant coaches Briann January and Austin Kelly, knowing they would run the sessions effectively.
“I got the film every day, so I watch the film,”
“(January) and I, in particular, have gone through multiple Olympic breaks together. She kind of understood the things that I thought were important. And obviously, we’ve all been together for a long time.

“So I wasn’t worried at all. I knew they’d take care of business and get it done. And I think our team had a good time, and I know we certainly got better.”
The Fever will return to action on Friday to take on the Toronto Tempo at Coca-Cola Coliseum. A two-game homestand follows at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Their last regular-season game is against the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx on Sept. 24.
Indiana is currently fifth in the standings with a 26-14 record but can finish as high as No. 2 or as low as No. 8.
