The Buffalo Bills are not officially honoring former running back O.J. Simpson at their new stadium.

Simpson, one of the best running backs in NFL history, was infamously accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman. Simpson was found not guilty in one of the most iconic trials in U.S. history. But the Bills have still chosen to keep his name off of their new stadium.
The former NFL running back will not be among the former players honored at the team’s new Highmark Stadium.
“We have made an organizational decision that he is not a fit to display inside our new stadium and family circle,” Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli said in a statement.
But a group of Buffalo Bills fans are speaking out against the decision, announcing an official protest.
Simpson, a six-time Pro Bowler who rushed for more than 2,000 yards in a season, should be honored inside of the stadium, some activists are saying.

“What does not fit mean? He was fit when he ran for those 2003 yards and made Buffalo world famous. He was fit when he got inducted into the National Football League in 1985. He was fit when he was put on the wall in Buffalo in 1980 and has been on that wall for 46 years. He was on that wall for the first trial,” Betty Jean Grant, a former Erie County legislator and activist, said, according to Spectrum News 1 BUF. “He was on the wall for the second trial. He was on the wall for the third trial. He was on the wall years after he was on the wall when he died. Tell me now, what changed?”
Some former NFL players seem to agree, too.
“It goes to bring up another subject, O.J Simpson,” former NFL running back Leonard Fournette said on his 4th And South podcast with Jarvis Landry. “The Bills say they’re not going to recognize him in the new stadium. To me, I think it’s disrespectful.”
Simpson did win NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards in the same year with the Bills. He’s a legendary player in the franchise’s history.
However, most can understand why the Bills would not want to honor him at their new stadium.
