Indiana Fever Coach Stephanie White Has Strong Words About Aliyah Boston

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is clearly happy with the growth she has seen from Aliyah Boston.

Boston put up solid numbers for Team USA in the recently concluded FIBA World Cup, where the squad won gold. In six games, she averaged 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks in 17.1 minutes per contest.

She had the second-highest plus-minus rating on Team USA at +17.3, highlighting the impact she brings whenever she’s on the court.

The Fever center was fairly consistent with her production throughout the tournament, but her best performance came in the quarterfinal against Hungary when she tallied eight points, four rebounds, three assists and one block.

In the final against France, Boston recorded seven points, one rebound, one assist and one block in 16 minutes on the court. She was tied with Kahleah Copper for the best plus-minus rating on the team at +16.

“Yeah, I thought she was terrific,” White said of Boston. “We didn’t have a player that does what AB does. You know, certainly on the interior, but also her ability to stretch gives you another body to play through as well.”

White added, “I think because of AB’s growth in her game and what you saw a year ago, what you’ve seen this year, it allowed her to be on the floor in more ways than one, not just a back-to-the basket post player. And she took advantage of her opportunities.”

Boston has certainly evolved as a player, and Fever fans can certainly attest to her incredible improvement this WNBA season.

As White mentioned, the 24-year-old has become a player who can stretch the floor, thanks to her improved 3-point shooting. She’s in the top 10 in the league in 3-point shooting at 40.8%.

Boston has helped the Fever secure a playoff spot, and sure enough, hopes are high that she will be as impactful in the postseason.
