A pumpkin weigh-in offering more than $100,000 in prizes will take place Saturday at Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm in Wheatland, organizers said.

The National Pumpkin Weigh Off, which began in 1921, will offer a $75,000 prize for the world’s first 3,000-pound pumpkin, according to a news release.
The event, sponsored by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain, will begin at 9 a.m. with judging for entrants ages 7 to 17 and at 10 a.m. for giant pumpkins.

Growers from across the United States and Canada are expected to participate.
The 2025 contest winner, a 2,204.5-pound pumpkin dubbed Fordzilla, was grown by Ross Pugh of Eugene, Oregon.
Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm is at 1415 Pumpkin Lane in Wheatland, about 35 miles northeast of Sacramento.
