Along Folsom Boulevard, a new sushi restaurant has settled into a longtime Rancho Cordova storefront.

Akame Sushi is serves traditional Japanese sushi, sushi tacos and rolls at its Rancho Cordova location at 12251 Folsom Blvd. This is the second location for the all-you-can-eat-sushi buffet, its other location is in Roseville on Taylor Road.
Akame Sushi opened Sept. 16, according to a social media announcement.
Launching in 2024, Akame Sushi said online that it honors the art of Japanese hospitality, known as “Omotenashi.”
“At its core, each meal we serve is meant to provide a wonderful eating experience,” it said. “It is the goal of our team to infuse tradition into a modern setting. “
The buffet ranges in price from $28.99 to $38.99 per person, depending on what’s served, according to its online menu. Options range from sushi hand rolls, veggie rolls, cucumber-wrapped rolls, deep-fried rolls, specialty rolls, dim sum, hibachi and traditional Japanese sushi courses, including nigri and sashimi.

The restaurant’s most popular dishes are its dragon roll, Lion King roll, unagi roll and King Kong roll, according to Yelp.
The restaurant occupies a space that had been the home of a few sushi restaurants. Akame Sushi replaced Narumi Sushi, which opened in January 2025, and closed approximately one year later. Prior to Narumi Sushi, Samurai Sushi operated for decades at the same location.
Akame Sushi in Rancho Cordova is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; and 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays.
