The Montana Grizzlies scored 31 unanswered points Saturday against UC Davis before the Aggies got on the board just before halftime at UC Davis Health Stadium.

Montana beat UC Davis 62-22 in a Big Sky Conference matchup of two nationally ranked FCS teams. The Aggies (3-2, 1-1 Big Sky) entered the game ranked No. 10, while Montana was ranked fifth.
Montana’s Eli Gillman rushed for four touchdowns and averaged 10.6 yards per carry as the Grizzlies controlled the line of scrimmage. Grizzlies quarterback Keali’i Ah Yat ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more.
With seven seconds remaining in the first half, UC Davis starting quarterback Treynor Cleeland connected with Zach Jones for a 27-yard touchdown. Cleeland then found Lan Larison for a 2-point conversion, cutting Montana’s lead to 31-8 at halftime.
Cleeland completed 18 of 33 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown in front of more than 11,000 fans.
“Obviously an embarrassing night. Definitely the worst that I’ve experienced here in the last couple of years,” Aggies coach Tim Plough said after the game.

“Montana deserves all the credit. They out coached us, outplayed us, in every facet of the game.”
Montana continued to pull away in the second half. Gillman scored twice more, including a 58-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
UC Davis running back Jordan Fisher rushed for 102 yards on 19 carries, including a 27-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Samuel Gbatu Jr. had six catches for 103 yards.
The Grizzlies (4-1, 2-0) of Missoula improved to 10-2 all-time against the Aggies and 6-0 in games played at UC Davis.
The Aggies stay at home for next Saturday’s homecoming game against Eastern Washington (1-4, 0-2).
