Bernie Sanders campaigns in California to support billionaire tax. Where will he be?

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., will campaign in California this weekend as he rallies support for Proposition 40, the one-time billionaire wealth tax.

One of Sanders’ stops will be in the Central Valley on Sunday.

The two-time former presidential candidate will visit Harvey Auditorium at Bakersfield High School on G Street in Bakersfield as part of the ”Fighting Oligarchy” tour. The nationwide tour has included a series of political rallies and town halls led by Sanders and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

The Bakersfield rally will include Democrat Randy Villegas as a “special guest.” Villegas is a political science professor running for California’s 22nd Congressional District. Doors open at 4 p.m. Sunday, with the speaker program beginning at 6 p.m.

The Proposition 40 ballot measure would impose a one-time 5% wealth tax on people with a net worth of more than $1 billion who resided in California as of Jan. 1, 2026.

On Saturday, Sanders will visit The Warfield concert hall on Market Street in San Francisco. The ”Ballots Over Billionaires” rally begins at 3 p.m.

Sanders will be joined by U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Fremont, and California Insurance Commissioner candidate Jane Kim. Kim was the first Korean-American San Francisco County Supervisor and regional political director for Bernie’s 2020 presidential campaign.

Los Angeles will be the final stop for Sanders’ “Fighting Oligarchy” tour on Monday, Oct. 5. The rally will occur at The Novo event center beginning at 5 p.m., according to Sanders’ social media page.

Attendance at any of the events requires an online registration available through berniesanders.com.
