College football fans have been complaining about McAfee’s behavior on “GameDay” for most of the season. They’ve felt that some of his behavior is over the top and unnecessary. They feel that it’s distracting from what the show should be all about.

On Saturday, ESPN’s college football pregame show took place live from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, ahead of the major SEC showdown between No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama.

McAfee went against the crowd, taking Georgia to beat Alabama (he was right). But, the way that he went about his pick caused a lot of backlash and annoyance on social media.

Many college football fans appear to be reaching a breaking point with McAfee, who has been a mainstay in ESPN’s coverage of the sport for the past several years.

College football fans are complaining more and more about his behavior on the air and his influence on the show.

‘College GameDay’ fans speak out against McAfee

“College gameday use to run mini documentary segments that would collectively make the nation cry….and now they run this,” one fan wrote on X.

“I can’t believe there were times we thought the Corso headgear was over-the-top and performative. We didn’t know. How could we have known?” another fan added on X.

“Pat McAffee is an insolent man child who get paid a lot to be annoying. I watch fox’s show instead,” another fan wrote on X.

“This is a snippet of how ridiculous College Gameday has gotten now that it’s become the Pat McAfee Comedy Hour. I don’t watch it anymore,” one fan added on X.

Of course, not everyone agrees.

“I’m fascinated by the bizarre backlash to College Gameday that seemed to come out of nowhere this season. Pat McAfee not knowing anything about Sacramento St is a problem? Really? Do people think studio folks on any other network know anything about Sacramento St? They don’t,” Jimmy Traina shared.
