T.J. Hockenson Injury Update: Latest news on Vikings’ Tight End After Leaving Game vs. Saints

The Vikings offense has struggled throughout the season, but there was a bright light in Week 4 as quarterback Kyler Murray developed a sharp partnership with tight end T.J. Hockenson. The pair hooked up for 13 receptions against the Miami Dolphins and it was clear that the tight end was the security blanket for the Minnesota quarterback.

Hockenson was clearly in the game plan as the Vikings took on the New Orleans Saints in Week 5. Murray’s first pass of the game resulted in a first down to Hockenson. As he caught the pass, the tight end was driven head-first into the turf.

Hockenson did not get up quickly. He stayed prone on the turf as the Vikings training staff attended to him. He immediately went into the blue tent on the sidelines. He was ushered back into the Vikings locker room minutes later.

He was ruled out of the game with a concussion. The Vikings used Gavin Bartholomew and Ben Yurosek at tight end after Hockenson came out of the game. Both caught passes in the first quarter.

The loss of Hockenson is clearly a blow for the Vikings offense.
