Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns entered Saturday atop the national rankings. After two late mistakes from the quarterback, however, the Oklahoma Sooners completed a 27-24 comeback in the Red River Rivalry and likely knocked Texas from the No. 1 spot.

Manning threw two fourth-quarter interceptions as Texas surrendered a 17-7 halftime lead as the Longhorns endured their first loss of the season.
The first interception proved especially costly, turning a one-score game into a tie. With Texas leading 17-10, Manning rolled right, extending the play and looking for wide receiver Cam Coleman downfield. His pass sailed high, allowing Peyton Bowen to intercept it and return it 42 yards for a touchdown.
“I was trying to extend a play and throw it to Cam and missed high,” Manning said. “Can’t do that and give them the lead.”

Manning responded by leading a seven-play, 75-yard drive and throwing a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Bishop to tie the game at 24 with 6:32 remaining.
Texas got another opportunity to add points to the score, but Manning made another costly decision with the Longhorns approaching field-goal range.

Under pressure from the Oklahoma 49, Manning forced a throw rather than getting rid of the ball. Courtland Guillory intercepted the pass with 19 seconds remaining, giving the Sooners one final possession.
Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer then connected with Isaiah Sategna III for 20 yards before Tate Sandell made a 47-yard field goal as time expired.
Manning finished 19 of 31 for 260 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. His first-half touchdown passes to Coleman and Ryan Wingo helped Texas build its early advantage before the offense stalled after halftime.
Asked whether he would consider removing himself as Texas’ offensive play caller after a questionable offensive performance, head coach Steve Sarkisian bluntly said, “Not a chance.”
Texas fell to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play with the loss, ending a four-game unbeaten start that had placed the Longhorns at No. 1 entering Saturday.
