Bears vs. Packers Week 5 Inactives: Who’s In, Who’s Out as Caleb Williams Sits Again

The Chicago Bears will be without Caleb Williams again when they visit the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. Williams (hamstring) is among the Bears’ six inactives, so Tyson Bagent makes another start.

Running back Kyle Monangai (toe) and rookie linebacker Keyshaun Elliott (quad) were ruled out on Friday’s report and are inactive.

Linebacker Noah Sewell, activated off the PUP list Saturday, is active. Ozzy Trapilo, Jamree Kromah and Jayden Loving sit without an injury designation.

Green Bay is thin up front. Doubtful guards Aaron Banks and Jacob Monk are inactive with lineman Donovan Jennings and defensive tackle Anthony Campbell. Guard Kevin Zeitler is active for his Packers debut, as is defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (toe).

It’s also the Bears’ first game since the team announced Friday that Mike Ditka died at 86. Here’s how both lists shook out.

Chicago Bears inactives

  • QB Caleb Williams
  • RB Kyle Monangai
  • LB Keyshaun Elliott
  • DL Jamree Kromah
  • OL Ozzy Trapilo
  • DL Jayden Loving

Green Bay Packers inactives

  • OL Jacob Monk
  • G Aaron Banks
  • OL Donovan Jennings
  • DT Anthony Campbell

Tyson Bagent gets another rivalry test

Bagent went 25 of 34 for 268 yards in the 23-12 win over the New York Jets, with no touchdown passes and one interception. The offense still piled up a franchise-record 34 first downs.

“We felt really crisp in terms of in and out of the huddle at the line of scrimmage,” offensive coordinator Press Taylor said.

Williams appears on track to return to practice Wednesday. For now, a win Sunday would extend the Bears’ winning streak over Green Bay to three games.

D’Andre Swift carries the load without Monangai

Monangai, the Bears’ leading rusher, has 324 yards at 5.4 yards per carry.

D’Andre Swift, who has 311 yards and three touchdowns on 69 carries, takes over after practicing fully Friday through hip and knee issues. His 57.3 overall PFF grade ranks 42nd among 47 qualified running backs.

“I’m not concerned about anything other than him getting his body back underneath him and ready to go,” coach Ben Johnson said of Swift.

Zavier Scott was elevated from the practice squad. The Bears lead the NFL in rushing at 196.3 yards per game, and Green Bay allows 139.2, the fifth-most in the league.

The Bears (3-1) and Packers (2-2) kick off at 1 p.m. ET, and Kenny Albert and Greg Olsen have the call on FOX.
