A 20-year-old woman died following an off-roading accident at the Calico Dry Lakebed early Saturday, officials said.

Lylianne C. Parsons died following the crash, first reported about 2:50 a.m. at the dry lakebed west of Calico Road, according to CHP logs. She was listed in coroner’s records as a Riverside resident, but described by the CHP as a Yermo resident.
She was a passenger in a Jeep being driven by a 22-year-old Yermo man, officials said.
“For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep overturned while off-roading, fully ejecting the femalepassenger,” according to a CHP statement.
Parsons succumbed to her injuries a short time later at Barstow Community Hospital, coroner’s records show.
The condition of the driver was not clear Sunday.
“Alcohol and/or drugs are considered contributing factors in this crash,” the CHP statement said. The investigation was ongoing.

“The CHP encourages everyone to make safety a priority behind the wheel,” the statement added. “Buckle up, stay aware of your surroundings, and adjust your speed to the terrain and conditions.”
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, was asked to contact Officer Officer M. Powell of the CHP’s Barstow Area Office at (760) 255-5900.
