For the first year of his NFL career, Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders relied mostly on the advice of family and friends when it came to business decisions. But as he passes the quarter mark of his second season, Sanders is finally signing with an agent.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Sanders has signed with Adie von Gontard of Young Money APAA Sports (YMAPAA). Schefter noted that it’s the same agency that represents his former Colorado teammate and current Jacksonville Jaguars CB/WR Travis Hunter.
“Browns QB Shedeur Sanders, who went through draft night and the early part of his NFL career without an agent, has signed with Adie von Gontard, CEO of Young Money APAA Sports, for representation,” Schefter wrote. “With the signing, YMAPAA now represents former Colorado teammates Travis Hunter and Sanders.”
Trying to get traded?
With Deshaun Watson playing as well as he has in the first few games of this season, the likelihood that Shedeur Sanders sees the field for any reason other than an injury to Watson diminishes.
Amid this news, fans are starting to wonder if Sanders is trying to work to accelerate his timeline for getting traded.
“He’s about to request a trade,” one user on X predicted.
“So he’s asking for a trade then?” wrote another.
“Not saying he will be traded… but Marvin Harrison Jr. was also agent-less, until recently when he hired an agent to help facilitate a trade,” a third wrote.
As a rookie, Sanders went 3-4 as a starter and completed 56.6-percent of his passes for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns with 10 interceptions plus 169 yards on the ground. While not exactly elite numbers, he was named to the Pro Bowl.
Whether or not he’s a starting caliber QB in the NFL right now or not, Sanders certainly believes he is and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he tries to maneuver his way onto a team where it will be a little easier to get some snaps in a regular season game.
