The Baltimore Ravens are making room for rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane, releasing veteran Chris Moore from the active roster and Xavier Guillory from the practice squad Tuesday.

The moves were reported by The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec and confirmed by the team. Lane, who has been on injured reserve since suffering a wrist injury in Week 1, is eligible to return as Baltimore prepares for Sunday’s AFC North matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Head coach Jesse Minter said Monday that Lane could be available for Week 6. The rookie has made progress, but the Ravens still need to assess his readiness before deciding whether he will play.
“Ja’Kobi’s done a really good job,” Minter said, noting that Lane is in a good place from a conditioning standpoint. Baltimore placed Lane on injured reserve in September after he underwent surgery for the wrist injury.
The Ravens announce that they’ve released WR Chris Moore from the 53 and they’ve also released WR Xavier Guillory from the practice squad.

Moore’s release creates room on the 53-man roster, although Zrebiec reported that the veteran could return to the practice squad. Moore recorded three catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in four games this season, giving Baltimore presence while Lane recovered.
Guillory’s departure also opens a practice-squad spot. The Ravens have not announced Lane’s activation, so the moves should be viewed as preparation for a possible return rather than confirmation that he will play Sunday.
Lane impressed during training camp and the preseason before his injury interrupted his rookie campaign. His return would give Baltimore another option on the outside, though the team can afford to be careful as he works back from surgery.
The Ravens enter the week after a 30-23 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons and will look to extend their winning streak against Cleveland. Lane’s status will become clearer as the team practices, with Wednesday’s session expected to provide an indication of his progress.
