On October 20, EA Sports officially announced that its beloved Fight Night franchise is returning after more than 15 years, sharing an image of boxing gloves hanging above a ring with the message, “The Fight Is Never Over.”
“To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back,” EA Sports wrote on X.
The announcement quickly gained traction across social media, drawing 4+ millions of views from fans who have waited years for another installment.
However, one response stood out from the rest.
Undisputed Responds to EA Sports’ Fight Night Announcement
The official X account for Undisputed, the boxing game developed by Steel City Interactive, wasted little time responding directly to EA Sports.
“The fight is never over? We’ll see you in the ring ,” the account wrote.
The playful challenge puts the spotlight on what could become an interesting competition between two boxing video game franchises.

Undisputed launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in October 2024, following its earlier PC early-access release. The game features licensed professional boxers, including Canelo Alvarez, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk, alongside simulation-focused boxing mechanics.
During Fight Night’s lengthy absence, Undisputed helped fill a gap in the boxing gaming market, giving fans another option for stepping into the virtual ring. However, the game has faced widespread criticism over gameplay flaws, technical issues, and inconsistent mechanics.
While some players have praised its realistic presentation and extensive fighter roster, others have expressed frustration with its overall execution, leading to a mixed reception among boxing fans.

Fight Night’s Return Comes as Undisputed Prepares Its Sequel
EA Sports last released a Fight Night game in March 2011 with Fight Night Champion, which introduced a cinematic Champion Mode storyline alongside its boxing gameplay.
Now, EA’s return comes as Steel City Interactive is preparing the next chapter of its own franchise.
In April 2026, the studio announced it would shift its development focus toward an Undisputed sequel built using Unreal Engine 5, rather than continuing to release new content and updates for the original game.
That decision adds another layer to the competition, with both franchises now looking toward future installments.
However, a direct release showdown is far from guaranteed.
EA Sports has not announced a release date, supported platforms, gameplay details, or a fighter roster for the upcoming Fight Night game.
For boxing fans, having two established franchises pursuing new releases could bring more choices and renewed competition to a genre that spent years without a new Fight Night installment.
And judging by its official response, Undisputed isn’t shying away from the competition.
