A 77-year-old woman who was reported missing in Sutter County was found dead, authorities said Wednesday evening.

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that Sandra Banta’s cause of death remains under investigation, but investigators do not believe foul play was involved.
Earlier Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office had asked the public for help locating Banta after she was last seen about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 1215 Plumas St. in Yuba City wearing an orange dress.

Sierra Pedley, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said emergency crews were dispatched just after 8 p.m. Tuesday to the Kohl’s parking lot in the 1400 block of Sunsweet Boulevard after receiving a report of an unconscious woman inside a red Chevrolet Equinox.
Pedley said first responders found Banta inside the vehicle. Investigators believe she suffered a medical emergency.
