The event, called Park After Dark, understandably focuses on the terrain park and features “live DJs, giveaways, food, drinks, and more,” according to Big SNOW’s website.
Entry costs about $50. Another Park After Dark throwdown is planned for August 28.
Located inside the sprawling American Dream mall, not too far from a Hot Topic and a Zumiez, Big SNOW spans four acres and runs four lifts, including a fixed-grip quad. Inside are a few green trails, a blue trail, and a top-to-bottom terrain park called Northern Lights. The indoor temperature sits at 28 degrees.

While indoor ski areas are more common in other parts of the world-fridge skiing in Dubai, anyone?-Big SNOW is the only one holding it down for American skiers who want to shiver and taste real snow in July. Without schlepping up a backcountry peak, that is.

It opened in 2019 and, since then, has continued to offer one of the continent’s most novel ski experiences. Carving and hitting rails within a 25-minute drive (that includes traffic, we think) of the Empire State Building is pretty out there.
The late-night openings also put Big Snow in an exclusive class. Night skiing, for the most part, wraps up around 9 p.m.
But a few ski resorts occasionally push further into the evening. Camelback Resort, Pennsylvania, hosted a few events last winter where it stayed open until 1 a.m. Club Camelback was the fitting name. Then, in Wisconsin, at Trollhaugen, there are Late Night Fridays, running all the way until 3 a.m.
Night skiing, to those who’ve never tried it, is the best.
For reasons that are hard to put into words, the after hours have a certain magic, limitless quality to them. That extends to skiing (which, by the way, already makes you feel limitless), so why not smush two fun things together?
