A man was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing an Auburn Area Recreation and Parks District storage building and stealing more than $80,000 worth of landscaping equipment, according to the Auburn Police Department.

The investigation began in June after equipment was reported stolen from the storage building at 123 Recreation Drive. The stolen items included a Kioti tractor, an aerator and other landscaping equipment valued at a total of more than $80,000, police said.
Detectives and patrol officers later identified the man as the primary suspect, police said. On Wednesday, officers found him driving and stopped his vehicle.

Police arrested the man and booked him into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property, false personation and possession of burglary tools. He also was booked on four outstanding warrants related to evading law enforcement, according to police.

Detectives continue to investigate the burglary, police said.
