The Roseville Police Department tracked down a suspected vodka-and-bacon bandit accused of stealing from two grocery stores in June, officials said.

Police joked on social media that some food pairings are classics, like peanut butter and jelly or chips and salsa, but Tito’s Vodka and Oscar Mayer Thick-Cut Bacon is a more unusual combination.
“That one might not make the chef’s recommendation list, but to each their own,” the department wrote.
Officers responded June 4 to a reported theft in progress at a Bel Air grocery store, where a 39-year-old woman allegedly concealed six handles of Tito’s Vodka and at least 14 packages of thick-cut bacon in her shoulder bag, police said.
The woman then attempted to purchase a few unrelated items at a self-checkout register.

“It’s a common tactic for thieves to purchase some items in hopes of distracting employees from the ones being stolen — a well-used trick in the retail world,” the department said in its social media post.

Her card was declined, but Bel Air’s loss prevention team had already spotted the vodka and bacon concealed in her bag, officials said. When workers confronted her, she became confrontational and left the store with the stolen merchandise.
Police said the woman then drove to a nearby Safeway, where she allegedly stole six more bottles of Tito’s Vodka, five packages of bacon and six reusable shopping bags.
Safeway employees recognized her from previous incidents and quickly notified police, according to authorities.
Officers, who were still investigating the first theft, connected the two cases. Officials said they waited for the suspect to exit the store before taking her into custody.
She was arrested on suspicion of two counts of petty theft with prior convictions and one count of possession of stolen property. She was booked into the South Placer County Jail.
