A bear was spotted Wednesday morning in Roseville, about 3 miles from where a bear was seen a day earlier in neighboring Rocklin.

Roseville police said they were responding to reports of a bear in the area of Foothills Boulevard between Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Blue Oaks Boulevard. Officers and an animal control officer were searching the area Wednesday morning while coordinating with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Police said there had been multiple sightings earlier in the morning, but officers no longer had the bear in view.
Authorities said they believed the bear could be the same one spotted Tuesday in Rocklin, but they could not confirm that.
“There have been no reported injuries and we do not have it currently in visual range,” a Roseville police spokesperson said in a statement. “We are simply searching for it.”

The bear had been spotted on traffic cameras in the area, police said.
There were no road closures Wednesday morning.
The sighting came a day after Rocklin police warned residents to use caution after a bear was seen near Argonaut Drive, Sweetwater Drive and Aiken Dairy Road before it was last reported on Skyline Drive.
Bears occasionally wander into developed areas while searching for food or water, wildlife officials said Tuesday.
Residents who encounter a bear should not approach it and should give it plenty of space so it can move through the area safely. Pet owners should keep dogs on a leash and supervise animals outdoors.
Anyone who encounters a bear behaving aggressively or posing an immediate threat to public safety should call 911.
