UNC fell to Notre Dame, 37-26, at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon. The Tar Heels, who posted a losing record in Belichick’s first season in 2025, dropped to 2-2 on the year.
During the game, an annoyed Belichick did an interview with ESPN sideline reporter Taylor McGregor. The ESPN sideline reporter was interviewing Belichick right before a pivotal third down. McGregor asked Belichick what the key would be to stopping the Fighting Irish on the play.
Belichick, clearly annoyed by the question, stared into the distance for a while, before coming up with a short response.
“Well, it’s third down, you know. They’re one for two on third down. So, we’ll see how it goes here,” he said.
ESPN then switched to the broadcast. Notre Dame not only converted on third down, but they scored, too.

It was a tough look for Belichick.
College football fans fed up with Belichick’s interviews
College football fans are fed up with the interviews.
“TV just needs to stop interviewing this miserable (expletive) before, during and after games. (Expletive) media needs to not show up to his pressers as well,” one fan wrote.
“They looked real good on the opening drive and subsequent possession. Things kinda went downhill after that though,” one fan added.
“I don’t think Bill Belichick is long for Chapel Hill, folks. Don’t blame Taylor either,” one fan added.
“Taylor waves the nicest white flag I’ve ever seen when an interview isn’t going the way it’s supposed to,” one fan added.
Ultimately, Belichick has never been a great interview, especially during games, but it’s an even rougher look when his team is struggling on the field.
