The Buffalo Bills gave their quarterback Josh Allen a proven weapon this offseason when they sent a second-round pick to the Chicago Bears for wide receiver DJ Moore.

Moore was coming off a down year with the Bears but has shown before what he is capable of, with four 1,000-yard seasons under his belt.
His first season in Buffalo has been inconsistent. Across four games he has dealt with a recurring shoulder and AC joint sprain that has limited his availability.
It first flared up in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions, forcing him out early, and he re-injured it last week against the New England Patriots for another early exit.
Through four games, Moore has been targeted 20 times and hauled in 12 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown. His availability has been in question all week after he missed nearly every practice session before returning in a limited capacity on Saturday.
With Moore’s status uncertain, the Bills are not waiting around. Buffalo announced before Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams that they have elevated Trent Sherfield from the practice squad for the game.

Moore is also dealing with Joshua Palmer being out for Week 5, leaving the Bills thin at the position.
With WR D.J. Moore listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Rams, the Bills elevated WR Trent Sherfield from their practice squad.

Sherfield is an nine-year journeyman who has spent time with five other organizations besides Buffalo. He has some familiarity with Allen, having played for the Bills in 2023 and hauling in 11 receptions on 22 targets for 86 yards.
He primarily operated as a fourth or fifth receiver on the depth chart, which is likely what he will be on Monday night.
