Jacob Jacobsen, 31, of Modesto, was sentenced to 37 years and 6 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for sexual exploitation of minors and receipt of child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.

The investigation began after the mother of a 13-year-old girl in Memphis, Tennessee, told law enforcement that someone had been communicating with her daughter through Snapchat and requesting sexually explicit material, according to federal prosecutors.

Investigators later identified that person as Jacobsen.

Search warrants revealed that Jacobsen had contacted dozens of underage girls through Snapchat, prosecutors said. He used the usernames “trippinj” and “treydawgg2000” and often claimed to be 16 or 17 years old while communicating with minors and asking for sexually explicit photographs and videos.

Jacobsen admitted to investigators that he had been obtaining sexually explicit images of underage girls for more than five years before his arrest, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

When federal authorities announced the case in 2022, investigators said Jacobsen may have been in contact with as many as 175 potential victims through Snapchat.

The FBI at the time publicly asked possible victims to come forward, saying they could be located anywhere in the world.

Authorities also said Jacobsen went by the aliases Jake, James and Trey and was associated with the Instagram username “loudpack.sd.” Investigators said he also may have contacted some victims in person.
