Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage
If you’re looking to treat yourself to a meal out and want to eat local, look no further than this “annual community tradition that brings people together to enjoy local flavors while supporting our restaurants during the slower summer months,” as the event’s website says. Taste of Summer Rancho Mirage features a series of food specials going on at city restaurants July 23-Aug. 16, but it impacts more than just local businesses: it also helps raise funds for local nonprofits.

Tolerance Education Center Film Screening of ‘They Ain’t Ready For Me’
Head to Rancho Mirage this Tuesday for a special film screening that will leave you feeling inspired. “They Ain’t Ready For Me,” as the Tolerance Education Center says, is “the story of Tamar Manasseh, the African American rabbinical student who is leading the fight against senseless killings on the south side of Chicago. The film explores the challenges and motivations of this fearless community leader as she works to prevent more people from being killed by gun violence. Tamar’s complex identity and magnetic personality combine to make her a force to be reckoned with, and she hasn’t even hit her stride yet.”

CV Rep Summer Series presents Glenn Rosenblum and Davis Gaines
The 2026 CVRep Summer Cabaret Series comes to a close this week – and it’s going out with a bang. First up, on Tuesday, CV Rep veteran Glenn Rosenblum returns with cabaret show “The Holidays in July … Broadway’s Holiday Songs,” which will feature, as his shows always do, several Broadway showstoppers, as well as several beloved numbers from old Hollywood films. This show will also feature special guests from Broadway and LA’s Musical Theatre Guild: Eileen Barnett and Dana Meller. On Thursday, the entire series wraps up with a show that’s selling fast: Davis Gaines. Gaines, who you might recognize from his many times singing the national anthem at Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Dodgers games, performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ over 2,000 times on Broadway, in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and has performed on countless Broadway tours.

Plaza Theatre Palm Springs presents ‘The Marvelous Miss Gender Starring Bosco’
Drag queen BOSCO from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 14 (2022) – and, most recently, “All Stars” season 10 (2025) – is headlining her first-ever solo tour, and of course it’s coming to Palm Springs. This 18-and-up show, as the theater says, is a “is a cinematic two-act musical comedy that shows the artist at her most formidable as she reveals her supervillain alter ego: Miss Gender. Enter Miss Gender’s lair and watch as Bosco blends comic book noir, burlesque, dance, high-fashion, satirical storytelling, showstopping lip sync numbers, stand-up, and over-the-top camp for a narrative-driven and immersive night of drag spectacle.” Note: There will be a 20-minute intermission.

Rancho Mirage Library & Observatory Afternoon Star Tour
Looking for a fun (and indoor) family event this week? Consider heading to the Rancho Mirage Library’s Observatory Dome as it’s turned into a planetarium. The library’s “Integrated Space Theater,” as its website says, allows staff to take visitors “on a simulated journey through the Universe when clouds or sunlight prevent us from showing you the real thing.” Join staff most Wednesdays for a 15-minute show. (Note: Should we reach capacity, subsequent shows will run until every patron has been accommodated.)

Dancing with the Stars Con 2026 at Acrisure Arena
Fans of “Dancing with the Stars” will get up close to all the action with the first ever Dancing with the Stars Con kicking off at the end of this month. This fan convention and live show makes its debut at Acrisure Arena, bringing stars and plenty of dancing to the desert. Dancing with the Stars Con will offer two live dance performances featured on the ballroom floor, interactive live panels with favorite contestants, interactive photo experiences, exhibits, Q&A sessions, exclusive merchandise and unique fan experiences. ‘Handwork: Crafting the Counterculture’ at Hi-Desert Artists
If you’re looking for an excuse to go up the hill to the high desert, consider an artistic afternoon at this exhibit. “Long before wearable art became fashionable and environmental themes dominated contemporary galleries, artist Nicki Marx was transforming feathers, bark, shells, petals and bones into powerful expressions of creativity, spirituality and personal freedom,” Hi-Desert Artists Art Center stated in a press release. “This summer, Hi-Desert Artists Gallery in Yucca Valley will hold an exhibition that explores the handcrafted design movement that emerged in California during the 1960s and 1970s. … Featuring the work of acclaimed feather artist Nicki Marx (1943–2023), ‘Handwork: Crafting the Counterculture’ offers a vivid look at a transformative era when artists and makers challenged conventional ideas about art, design and personal expression.”
