After overhauling their roster this offseason, the Miami Dolphins have a glaring weakness at wide receiver ahead of training camp.

Tyreek Hill was released in February, and Jaylen Waddle was traded to the Denver Broncos in March.
Now, the Dolphins’ receiving corps enters training camp with more questions than answers. That’s why CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards listed wide receiver as Miami’s biggest need ahead of the regular season.
“Miami has one of the league’s worst rosters; likely by design,” Edwards wrote. “The team’s starting wide receivers will emerge from a competition involving Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, Malik Washington and rookies Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr. Depth at defensive tackle is concerning, but not as concerning as safety, tight end or cornerback.”
The Dolphins have arguably the worst roster in the league, which was by design. They are entering the first year of a roster reset – also known as a rebuild – under first-year general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley. The front office traded or released several high-priced veterans during the offseason, including Hill, Tua Tagovailoa and Bradley Chubb, with the intent of drafting and developing younger talent.

Miami’s offensive core will be led by running back De’Von Achane and quarterback Malik Willis, who signed a three-year, $67.5 million contract in March. Achane led the Dolphins with 67 receptions last season and may need to do so again in 2026.
Washington, Tolbert and Atwell are the projected starting wide receivers. The trio has combined for 268 career receptions.
The trio brings little proven production
There are veteran receivers, such as Stefon Diggs, who would immediately improve the Dolphins’ passing attack. But Miami also wants to see what it has in rookies Bell, Douglas and Coleman. Signing Diggs, which appears unlikely, would be expensive and take valuable snaps away from the team’s young receivers.
Don’t be surprised if the Dolphins sign an inexpensive veteran receiver after roster cuts ahead of the regular season. Until then, Achane and tight end Greg Dulcich are their most reliable pass catchers until someone else proves otherwise.
