Egypt traveled to Texas to prepare for its FIFA World Cup Round of 32 matchup against Australia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, but the team’s stay took an unexpected turn after an incident at its hotel.

While players were in the lobby of the hotel greeting fans and taking photos, an altercation broke out involving Egypt team director Ibrahim Hassan and Dallas police officers.
According to reports, hotel security had called police about an individual attempting to enter the hotel without proper credentials. As officers moved into the crowd, winger Trezeguet was taking a photo with a young fan when one officer approached and pushed Hassan back while instructing those gathered to move away.
The situation quickly escalated into a verbal confrontation, with the officer repeatedly ordering people to step back as he exchanged shoves with Hassan and members of Egypt’s support staff.
There was more grappling as Egypt players and staff rushed in to intervene, while the officer repeatedly shouted, “BACK OFF!” The confrontation lasted for roughly 30 seconds before players, team officials, and security personnel separated the two sides and brought the situation under control.

The Dallas Police Department later confirmed that officers met with team representatives after the incident, and the matter was resolved at the scene.
Team officials said the incident was quickly put behind them, allowing the squad to remain focused on its upcoming World Cup match against Australia.

Ibrahim Hassan is the twin brother of Hossam Hassan, Egypt’s head coach and all-time leading goal scorer. The brothers have remained closely involved with the national team, with Hossam serving as head coach and Ibrahim working as the team’s director, overseeing administrative and organizational matters.
