Elk Grove is getting a new bookstore, part of the largest bookseller chain in the United States.

A Barnes & Noble will open in Elk Grove on September 15 at The Village shopping center. The store is located in the Village shopping plaza at 8120 Elk Grove Blvd., according to its Instagram page.
The Village, which is 127,000 square feet, opened in June, according to Pappas Investment. Elk Grove Barnes & Noble will serve as one of the center’s anchor businesses.
“We can’t wait to finally open our doors, celebrate with you, and welcome you to your new bookstore,” the store’s management wrote online.
The long-anticipated business was announced in January. Barnes & Noble wrote online that the store “offers a calm retreat with a welcoming bookstore experience.”
Barnes & Noble at The Village will host author signings during its grand opening, the author Tarah DeWitt, will sign copies of her romance novel “Lost and Found.”
“Thirteen Reasons Why” author Jay Asher, will also sign books on Sept. 15. Authors Ann Adams and Grace Murrow will sign copies of their respective romance novels, “Racing Hearts” and “We Become Darkness,” on Sept. 19.

The Elk Grove Barnes & Noble will also host book release parties, according to its Instagram. On Sept. 28, the store will celebrate the release of the fantasy romance novel “Threshing Day,” by Rebecca Yarros. The party begins at 9 p.m. and ends at midnight.
Barnes & Noble has approximately 700 stores across the United States, according to its website. The national bookseller opened in 1873, starting as a book business in Wheaton, Illinois. The franchise opened its flagship location in New York in 1917.
“This store developed a worldwide reputation for excellence by serving millions of customers with its comprehensive selection of general trade books, academic titles and textbooks, and medical books,” Barnes & Noble’s website reads.
There are four Barnes & Noble stores in the Sacramento region. Their addresses are:
- 1725 Arden Way at Arden Fair
- 6111 Sunrise Blvd. in Citrus Heights
- 1256 Galleria Blvd. in Roseville
- 280 Palladio Parkway in Folsom
Elk Grove Barnes & Noble will welcome customers beginning at 9 a.m. once it opens for business.
