Toronto Tempo guard Brittney Sykes spoke highly of Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell ahead of their game.
Before the Tempo welcome the Fever to their home floor at the Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday, Sykes was asked during the team’s practice about her thoughts on Mitchell.
The one-time WNBA All-Star proclaimed that Mitchell should be a shoo-in for the All-WNBA selection this season.
“I love K-Mitch,” Sykes said. “It’s amazing watching her and I’m happy for her. She deserves All-WNBA if you ask me. She certainly should be on that list for All-WNBA. That’s my dog.”
The former Ohio State star has been the leading scorer for the Fever this season with 24.2 points in 35 games. She’s also averaging 1.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Mitchell and Indiana are looking to extend their current win streak to five and record their 24th win of the season.

During the same interview, the former Syracuse standout identified Mitchell as a player who is hard to guard and praised her outstanding development over the years.
“People always ask me who’s like one of the hardest guards to guard, and I promise you, it’s second nature. I’m like, Kelsey Mitchell, and it’s a mutual respect for each other,” Sykes continued. “Seeing her just throughout college, and then just getting to the pros and just how she’s developed and sustained her credibility (as) a pure scorer.”

Sykes is also having a big year. She has been the second-leading scorer for Toronto this season with 20.1 points in 15 games.
Though she has been battling injuries, Sykes remains one of the top stars for the WNBA expansion team.
