LOS ANGELES – The yells were hard to ignore as passengers arranged at the gate in Terminal 4 at Los Angeles International Airport.

“Whose house?” the scream echoed through the terminal, as fliers cruised down the escalator toward a gate decorated with royal blue and sol yellow balloons.
“Rams House!” the man repeated three times in succession.
The voice belonged to former Rams tight end Roland Williams, who won Super Bowl XXXIV as a member of the “Greatest Show on Turf” in January 2000, when the then-St. Louis Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans, 23-16. Partnering with American Airlines, the official airline and charter flight partner of the Rams, Williams and some of the team’s cheerleaders gave away towels and blankets ahead of a Tuesday night flight to Sydney, Australia ahead of the Rams’ season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night PT (Friday morning) in Melbourne.
“I think anytime the Rams get a chance to play outside of this country, right, it’s something special, and it’s a heck of a team,” said Williams, who played for the Rams from 1998 to 2000 then again in 2005 before retiring.
The excitement wasn’t lost on Chantelle Lambkins, an educator from Carson, who boarded the flight that Williams was generating noise around. Lambkins was the first fan to greet Williams in front of the balloons and an LED display that read “Go Rams,” pulling her husband into a picture with Rams cheerleaders and the team’s tight end ambassador.
“(We’re) super excited,” Lambkins said. “He came with the energy. It’s been a long couple weeks. We are ready for the game.”
Lambkins, who is traveling to Sydney before taking a connecting flight to Melbourne for the game, boarded the flight along with her husband, sister and brother-in-law. Lambkins’ sister and brother-in-law are 49ers fans, and they were dressed in red and gold for the flight Down Under.
Could Williams convert the pair to chant for the Rams?
“Probably not,” Lambkins said. “They’re a hard bunch.”
While her family members aren’t as excited about the Rams, Lambkins is. She’s hoping for a season that ends with the team playing in another home-field Super Bowl in February 2027 at SoFi Stadium.

“Ready for Aaron Donald to come back,” Lambkins said. “Unfortunately, he’s not playing in this game, but it’s okay. We have enough. You know we have Myles Garrett, Matthew Stafford, (the) MVP, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams. I mean I can go on and on. So hey, I’m ready for it all. Offense, defense. I’m ready for it all. We just needed a little pump. You know, the last two years been so close.”
After Lambkins returned to her luggage and waited for boarding to begin as 10 p.m. neared in Los Angeles, the nearly 16-hour flight to Sydney soon to take off, Williams called over a fan who piqued curiosity at the giveaways nearby.
The young man was from Charlotte, and wasn’t a Rams fan.
But Williams wasn’t going to give up on his hype. Williams got the man to yell “Whose House? Rams House!” all the same – an exclamation point on a journey soon to begin.
“Listen, love is contagious,” Williams said. “Rams football is contagious, and everyone loves a winner.”
So, what is Williams’ prediction for the season opener?
Not a surprise. Williams has the Rams beating their longtime rivals handily, and he believes Garrett will record two sacks in his debut for a 36-14 victory.
“First off, it’s the 49ers, so we don’t like them at all,” Williams said. “It’s a real thing, and so I just think the Rams is a better team. I think it’s going to be a dominating game for the Rams.”
