Chris Benoit remains one of the most complicated names in professional wrestling history, but more than two decades after his WWE career, stories continue to emerge from the wrestlers who knew and worked alongside him.

Former WWE star Perry Saturn was one of them.
Saturn, Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko famously left WCW together before appearing on WWE television as The Radicalz in January 2000. Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Saturn reflected on how close he became with the three wrestlers during their years together.
“For a couple years, I worked with these guys all the time. Went out with them, traveled,” Saturn said. “Those guys were friends a lot longer than I was their friend, but we all respected each other and stuff.”
Saturn said the relationship developed even further as WCW began exploring a new version of the Four Horsemen involving Benoit and Malenko alongside Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. According to Saturn, the others approached Flair about making him the group’s enforcer.
“We were getting close, and very similar personalities,” Saturn recalled. “Me and Benoit were more similar.”

Saturn’s relationship with Benoit also became intertwined with the group’s eventual departure from WCW.

While discussing the frustrations that preceded his exit, Saturn said he would have remained with the promotion had Eric Bischoff not been removed from power. But he also pointed specifically to the issues surrounding Benoit and Kevin Sullivan.
“Our problem when we left was because Benoit and Sullivan,” Saturn said, adding that the others were “getting residual heat for that.”
The situation surrounding The Radicalz’ departure became even more contentious from there. Saturn alleged that WCW’s Mike Graham later pulled a knife on him and threatened the group, leading Saturn to call police and file a report. He said the matter was subsequently taken to Time Warner’s human resources department.
Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn ultimately received their releases and made one of the most memorable jumps of the Monday Night War, appearing together on WWE Raw on Jan. 31, 2000. WWE’s own historical coverage confirms the four debuted together that night.
More than 26 years later, Saturn’s recollections provide another glimpse into the relationships and backstage circumstances behind a group whose arrival dramatically changed the trajectory of all four men’s careers.
