A physical fight between a married couple over infidelity inside a house in northwest Fort Worth preceded the husband’s killing late Tuesday by his stepson, according to the wife’s account to police.

At the moment Eric Titues III shot Kendrick Malone to death in a bedroom, the flares of anger had reduced to verbal insults and yelling, the wife told a detective, according to the detective’s synopsis of the discussion that is described in an affidavit supporting an arrest warrant for Titues, 19, for murder.
The wife, whose name is redacted in the affidavit, was at the head of the bed and about to get into the bed when she turned to see her son Eric, from the doorway of the bedroom, shoot Malone, she told Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit Detective Norman Abrams.
Titues left the house in the 6300 block of Sloop Street after the shooting, about 10:30 p.m. Defense attorney Lesa Pamplin surrendered Titues to Fort Worth police at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The encounter with her husband, who was 40, involved pushing, shoving, kicking and open-hand hits and grabs from both, the wife said.

As the arguing started, Malone sent their youngest child upstairs, the wife told Detective Abrams, according to the affidavit.
Later, just before he was shot, Malone was standing by the foot of the bed when his wife walked around the bed past him, she said.
Titues then shot Malone, who fell to the ground, according to the wife’s account as it is described in the affidavit.
The wife told police she had not seen Titues earlier in the night.
