A person driving on the Capital City Freeway died Monday morning after their vehicle crashed into a pole down an embankment next to the Marconi Avenue exit.

California Highway Patrol officers closed a lane of traffic at the Marconi Curve, a section of the highway that divides Sacramento and Arden Arcade after the crash. It was reported around 5 a.m.

The agency did not immediately identify the person who died in the wreck, which did not appear to involve any other vehicles.
