Three cats died in a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Woodland on the 1000 block of West Street, according to the Woodland Fire Department.

The fire department received initial reports of the fire just before 1 p.m and worked quickly to extinguish the active fire upon arrival. No one was at the home at the time, but three cats were found inside the house. Despite efforts to save the animals’ lives, including CPR and oxygen resuscitation, the cats died.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
“This is a heartbreaking outcome for the family and for the first responders who worked tirelessly to save the animals. Our thoughts are with the residents as they cope with the loss of their beloved pets,” officials from the fire department told FOX40.
