Tangipa sees smooth primary Election Night in California’s 8th Assembly District

Republican Assemblyman David Tangipa, R-Fresno, had a smooth primary Election Night, as he ran unopposed in California’s 8th Assembly District.

The Associated Press projects he will move on to the general election and, according to preliminary results from the California Secretary of State’s Office as of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Tangipa has about 100% of the vote.

“Cheers to 2 more years!” Tangipa posted to Facebook.

California’s 8th Assembly district includes communities like Angels Camp, Yosemite, Bishop, Clovis and Lone Pine, with most of the district’s population residing in Fresno County.

Tangipa, 30, first won his seat in 2024, defeating former Republican Congressman David Radanovich. He was a tight end for Fresno State’s football team, going on to be a real estate agent after graduation.

Results will be certified by July 10.
