Padres minors: Nick Schnell hits 11th homer, Marco Gonzales gets win for El Paso

Right fielder Nick Schnell hit his 11th homer and left-hander Marco Gonzales threw five solid innings, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 5-3 win at Round Rock.

A two-hit day lifted Schnell’s batting line to .260/.345/.568. He has driven in 30 runs in 41 games.

Gonzales (2-4, 8.52 ERA) struck out one and allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in five innings.

Left-hander Kyle Hart (7.82 ERA) recorded the final two outs for his first save.

Center fielder Carlos Rodriguez (.729 OPS) went 3-for-5. Left fielder Pablo Reyes (.978 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored and shortstop Mason McCoy (.809 OPS) went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored and his 14th steal.

El Paso is 28-36.

Frisco 10, Missions 4: RHP Victor Lizarraga (2-6, 6.89 ERA) allowed five runs in 5⅓ innings in the loss. RHP Clark Candiotti (11.57 ERA) allowed four runs in an inning of work. RF Kai Murphy (.571 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. DH Tirso Ornelas (.750 OPS) and SS Francisco Acuña (.626 OPS) both had a double. C Ethan Salas (.795 OPS) went 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

Dayton 12, TinCaps 2: RHP Matthew Watson (0-4, 6.40 ERA) allowed nine runs in three innings in the start. LHP Ryan Och (2.08 ERA) struck out two over two scoreless innings in his latest rehab appearance. 3B Zach Evans (.626 OPS) doubled twice and scored a run.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (33-25)

Ontario 5, Storm 4: 1B Luke Cantwell (.985 OPS) drove in three runs on three hits, including a triple. RF Kerrington Cross (1.023 OPS) went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI. RHP Winyer Chourio (3.55 ERA) struck out nine and allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in six innings in the start.

ROOKIE ACL PADRES (14-13)

Padres 3, D-backs 1 (7): LF Cardell Thibodeaux (.740 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a walk. SS Jhoan De La Cruz (.543 OPS) 2-for-3 with a run scored. RHP Dariel Polanco (2-0, 3.22 ERA) struck out three over two scoreless innings in relief in the win.

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (1-6)

Royals 9, Padres 2: RF Berman Moreno (.614 OPS) and DH Luis Rodriguez (.627 OPS) each had a double. Rodriguez drove in a run and Moreno scored a run. 2B Osmy Osorio (1.012 OPS) went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
