A Silver Alert has been issued in Placer County for an 83-year-old man who has been missing for several days from his Colfax apartment.

John Liebhauser was last contacted by family members about five days ago, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Neighbors also told deputies they had not seen or heard from him in several days.
Deputies went to Liebhauser’s apartment near Canyon Way on Wednesday evening to conduct a welfare check but were unable to locate him. Authorities found his vehicle and cellphone at the residence and checked local hospitals without success.
Liebhauser is 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes. Authorities said it is unknown what he was wearing or where he may have been headed.

Sheriff’s officials said Liebhauser is known to walk and hike in the area, prompting concerns for his safety.
Anyone with information about Liebhauser’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Placer County Sheriff’s Office at 530-886-5375.
A Silver Alert is issued when a person age 65 or older, or someone who is developmentally or cognitively impaired, goes missing and is considered at risk. The CHP activates the alert after a local law enforcement agency determines the individual meets the criteria and it has exhausted all available resources.
