Jacob Fatu has revealed that his WWE career nearly fell apart before he even had the chance to make his debut.

Speaking with Stephanie McMahon on the latest episode of “What’s Your Story,” Fatu opened up about his struggles with addiction and the difficult period that followed while WWE was considering bringing him into the company.
“This past WrestleMania, your husband [Triple H], I don’t mean to get deep but before I actually got hired – I almost got fired before I got hired because of my addiction and stuff. Your husband, they passed me, they did pass me. It was cause of me,” the WWE star said.
“The Samoan Warewolf” explained that WWE had initially passed on the concerns surrounding him, but the situation changed after his personal struggles became an issue. He recalled receiving a call from Bruce Prichard and spending 19 days unsure whether his WWE opportunity was gone.
“Bruce called, it was all bad. 19 days, I didn’t know if I had a job. Our kids are asking me, ‘Dad, when we moving to Florida?’ I couldn’t even answer them for 19 days because I thought it was done.”
The situation eventually reached Triple H, who decided Fatu deserved another opportunity. The WWE Chief Content Officer, however, made it clear that Fatu would have to make significant changes once he arrived.
“They brought me up again and your husband said, ‘We’ll give him a second chance, everybody deserves a second chance. But, when he get here, all that gotta stop.'” [H/T Fightful]

That second opportunity became a turning point for the 34-year-old star, who has since built a significant career in WWE.
Jacob Fatu Made His WWE Debut in 2024
After establishing himself on the independent wrestling scene and working for promotions including MLW and NJPW, Fatu officially joined WWE in 2024.
He made his main roster debut on the June 21 episode of SmackDown, immediately making his presence felt as part of Solo Sikoa’s version of The Bloodline. He quickly became one of the faction’s most imposing figures and played a major role during its battles with Roman Reigns and the original Bloodline.
Fatu captured his first WWE championship when he and Tama Tonga won the WWE Tag Team Championship. He later moved into the singles picture and reached another major milestone at WrestleMania 41, defeating LA Knight for the United States Championship.
His reign eventually ended in 2025, followed by a serious injury that kept him out for several months. “The Samoan Warewolf” returned in 2026 and soon found himself involved in another major storyline, including his unsanctioned WrestleMania 42 match against Drew McIntyre.
Following further changes within the family, Fatu ultimately moved away from Solo Sikoa’s side and aligned himself with Roman Reigns. He has since emerged as one of the Original Tribal Chief’s most formidable allies.
