Glenn Jacobs, better known to wrestling fans as Kane, appeared Saturday at President Donald Trump’s midterm rally at F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee. Jacobs was the first speaker of the afternoon, welcoming the crowd before a lineup of Republican politicians and other speakers.

“It’s an honor to share the stage with the greatest president of our lifetime,” Jacobs wrote. “Welcome back to the best state in the Union.”

Cornette responded harshly to Jacobs’ post.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, here is a formerly admired superstar selling his soul for political power,” Cornette wrote.

He went on to call Trump “the most repugnant criminal” and made several accusations against the president before ending his response with a vulgar message directed at Jacobs.

Jim Cornette and Kane Have a Long History

The phrase “formerly admired superstar” carries additional weight because Cornette’s relationship with Jacobs stretches back more than 30 years.

Before Jacobs became Kane, Cornette booked him as Unabomb in Smoky Mountain Wrestling during the 1990s. Jacobs eventually arrived in WWE and debuted as Kane in 1997, beginning a run that made him one of the most recognizable stars of his generation.

The disagreement also comes as political divisions have become increasingly visible among wrestling legends.

Mick Foley allowed his WWE Legends contract to expire earlier this year after saying he would not renew his relationship with the company, citing WWE’s ties to Trump among his reasons. Meanwhile, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has appeared alongside Trump through his role with the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.

The Undertaker has also publicly supported Trump, including appearing with Jacobs and Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign.

For Cornette, however, this one is personal enough to stand out. Decades after helping Jacobs early in his career, he now describes Kane as someone he “formerly admired.”
