Vazquez helped McKinsense break his maiden status, scoring by a head as the 1-5 wagering favorite, in his sixth career attempt. The win helped Vazquez reach a plateau he has worked to achieve since starting his riding career in 2002.
After graduating from the Puerto Rico Vocational Jockey School, at the Hipodromo Camarero near San Juan in 2002, Vazquez began piling up wins in rapid fashion. His win total in Puerto Rico stands at 1,568.
Vazquez made a permanent move to America in 2011. He has now won 2,432 races in the USA, making his overall win total 4,000. While a grand achievement, Equibase, the official supplier of racing information and statistics in America, does not fully recognize it as a milestone.
A proper presentation for the 4,000 Vazquez lifetime wins will take place during the upcoming Oklahoma Classics night at Remington Park.
