U.S. First Lady Melania Trump is not a fan of a popular World Cup goal celebration.

The U.S. fell to Belgium, 4-1, in the Round of 16 last Monday, July 7. The American men were dominated by the Belgium squad, after President Trump potentially helped the U.S. with the Folarin Balogun situation. Balogun was set to miss the Round of 16 match, after receiving a red card in the Round of 32 win over Bosnia. But, following a FIFA review – and a phone call from President Trump – Balogun’s suspension was put on hold and he was allowed to play.
“All I did was ask for a review. I didn’t say, you have to do this,” Trump said at a White House media briefing before the Round of 16 game. “This man is a smart, tough man, Gianni Infantino. He’s a smart, tough man, and his stock has gone through the roof because the job he has done has been great. I feel like we have to have all the best players on the field.”
Following one of their goals, Belgium’s players hit President Trump’s infamous celebratory dance, which could be used by other players as the World Cup continues. President Trump is expected to be in attendance at the World Cup Final in New Jersey on Sunday.

The First Lady of the United States has made it clear that she is not a fan of the popular dance and now-goal celebration.

“By the way, my wife hates when I do this. She said, you know, she’s a very classy person, right? She said, ‘it’s so un-presidential,'” Trump previously said at a Jan. 6 retreat with House Republicans. “And I have to say this, the dancing they really like. She said, ‘they don’t like it, they’re just being nice to you.’ I said, ‘that’s not right.’ The place goes crazy. They’re screaming dance please.”
Not everyone agrees with Melania Trump, though.
LPGA Tour star Charley Hull previously said: “I love it when he does his little dance.”
The 2026 World Cup will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, with two semifinal games. France will be taking on Spain on Tuesday, while England will be taking on Argentina on Wednesday.
