One of the Green Bay Packers‘ biggest areas of concern this offseason has come on the offensive line. At right guard, many expected former second-round pick Anthony Belton to step into the starting role, though a combination of injuries and inconsistent performances has raised concerns about his ability to limit penalties and thrive in a lead job.

Belton suited up in 14 games at different positions in 2025, but ultimately carved out seven starts at offensive tackle. A turbulent rookie performance led Green Bay’s front office to bolster the group with the addition of highly touted interior lineman Jager Burton in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Burton has carved out first-team reps at guard, along with Belton and Jacob Monk, a surprise contender for the job.
Amid these trends surrounding the rotation, Belton was moved back to tackle and got some second-team reps at the spot, raising questions over his status in the ongoing battle for the starting guard spot.
Though Burton and Monk continue to contend for the job, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich provided insight into Belton’s outlook and the reason behind the second-year lineman’s move to tackle.

Stenavich reaffirmed confidence in Belton amid a recent shift on the offensive line. Over the weekend, he revealed that the NC State product continues to contend for the starting role inside.

Stenavich has moved the offensive line around throughout the offseason, a trend that will help him gain insight into the unit entering the regular season. Monk saw reps at center, in addition to the right guard spot, while Burton has flashed versatility at the opposite guard position.
Ultimately, all three members of the current competition could see time starting at different spots throughout the regular season, though Stenavich and Matt LaFleur will look to cement the rotation that will benefit the likes of Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs most. The versatility among the group will almost certainly work in the front’s favor in cases of injury or long-term absences during the regular season.
The Packers’ line will continue to be monitored over the final week of preseason, as the team gears up for its season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sep. 13.
