Firefighters responded to a reported drowning near 67th Avenue and Baseline Road at about 9:45 p.m., said Cpt. Todd Keller, a spokesperson with the department.
The child had been pulled from a backyard pool and family members told first responders they did not know how long he had been underwater, according to Keller.
Firefighters found the boy unconscious and not breathing, Keller said.
The 4-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, he said.
“Early information indicates there was no pool fence at the residence,” Keller said.
