It’s not the first Thursday night game of 2026, but it is the season debut of “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon Prime. Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit and the gang get a potential shootout as the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills play the first game ever at Buffalo’s new Highmark Stadium. Josh Allen and the Bills put up 36 last week in a thrilling road win over the Houston Texans. Jared Goff and the Lions needed overtime to reach 31 in a one-point squeaker over the New Orleans Saints.
This game also features last year’s leading rusher, Buffalo’s James Cook, and Detroit back Jahmyr Gibbs, who was second in the NFL with 18 total touchdowns. The Bills are 3.5-point home favorites in this game.
