A multi-hour standoff with Sacramento police at an Oak Park home ended peacefully when officers arrested a man early Wednesday, the Sacramento Police Department said.

Sacramento police took the man into custody at the home in the 3500 block of 44th Street near 10th Avenue just before 12:30 a.m., department officials said. The arrest ended a stalemate that began as a disturbance call at the address about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The man was armed inside the home with other residents, though police said the people inside were not hostages. The residents were later evacuated, and no one was hurt, police said.

By 8:40 p.m., a Sacramento police tactical team and crisis negotiators were at the scene trying to persuade the man to surrender. The standoff stretched into the night as he refused to leave the home.
