Happy Birthday, Sophie Cunningham.
The Indiana Fever star is turning 30 years old on Sunday. Cunningham is celebrating her birthday, ahead of the Indiana Fever vs. Atlanta Dream game on Sunday afternoon. The WNBA issued an official Happy Birthday! message to Cunningham on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Join us in wishing a Happy Birthday to 2025 Commissioner’s Cup Champion, Sophie Cunningham! 🎉 #WNBABday,” the league announced.
But not everyone is happy with the league’s birthday message for Cunningham.
“This post just lets you know that the WNBA is just milking this controversy for attention,” one fan wrote.
“Pretending she’s relevant and yet you had to bring up something from a year ago because she’s so bad,” one fan added.
“2025… commissioners cup. In 2026 y’all so desperate it’s hilarious,” one fan added.
“How hard was this post to be written by the Schaub at the W media desk ? Thanks for trying to appear like you care,” one fan added.

“Bruh 🤦🏾♂️2025 Commissioners Cup? Y’all could’ve just said happy birthday this is why people be at y’all necks smh a role player at that we know her controversy gets clicks but come on people read the room,” one fan added.
“Hahahahaha who forced you to post this? We all know you don’t give a (expletive) about her,” one fan added.
Cunningham is standing by her opinions
Cunningham has said that it’s “common sense” to keep transgender athletes out of women’s sports in 2026.
It’s an opinion she stands by.
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense,” Cunningham told reporters. “And I think I’ll always believe in that. I think it’s really important to protect children, and that’s little girls who are also involved in that category. I stand on what I said.”
The Fever and the Dream, meanwhile, are set to tip off at 5 p.m. E.T. on Sunday evening. The game will air on ESPN.
