One victim was taken to a hospital and four others were treated at the scene by Thunder Valley emergency staff after the attack about 7 p.m. in a casino restaurant kitchen. The condition of the hospitalized victim was not known Thursday.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Joseph Benedict John Naugle, 22. Naugle was being held at South Placer Jail in Roseville on two counts of attempted murder in connection with the attack, according to jail logs.

Naugle’s arraignment in Placer Superior Court was scheduled for Friday.
Television news cameras captured a man wearing a long, dark apron, believed to be Naugle, being taken into custody by Placer County sheriff’s deputies.
Sheriff’s officials and Thunder Valley representatives said the attack occurred in a kitchen area that served Dos Coyotes and was separated from the restaurant and casino floor. Casino operations continued normally during the incident, Thunder Valley representatives said, and many guests on the sprawling property were likely unaware of the attack.
