The New York Knicks have had a quiet offseason thus far as they will bring back nearly their entire roster from last season with hopes to win back-to-back championships.

Of course, the Knicks’ core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and multiple bench pieces remain in New York heading into the new season.
Despite this, New York did lose one of its key frontcourt players as Mitchell Robinson signed with the Boston Celtics in free agency. Following this, the Knicks signed Andre Drummond to replace him.
While the Knicks were able to find a solid replacement for Robinson, they also lost Ariel Hukporti to the Philadelphia 76ers, leaving them thin in the frontcourt.
The Knicks did sign James Wiseman and Drew Eubanks to training camp deals to potentially compete for a roster spot, though they could also target a big man on the trade market, with New Orleans Pelicans center DeAndre Jordan being a potential option.

In a potential trade that could not be completed until Dec. 15 due to Jordan’s recently signed restriction, the Knicks could send Miles McBride and the Washington Wizards’ 2027 second-round pick to the Pelicans in exchange for Jordan.
While moving on from McBride could be a tough decision for the Knicks to make given his impact off the bench and status as a fan favorite, swapping him for Jordan would help them add much-needed frontcourt depth.

For Jordan, while he is no longer the All-NBA player he once was, he would still provide the Knicks with a reliable scorer, rebounder and defender in their frontcourt off the bench who they could turn to behind Towns and Drummond.
Last season, the 38-year-old center averaged 4.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 65.6% from the field in limited playing time in New Orleans.
Jordan would also give the Knicks another veteran presence with championship experience from his time with the Denver Nuggets.
While this trade could work out well for New York, the franchise may elect to roll with one of the players they signed to a training camp deal, or they could look for a younger option than Jordan to fill a frontcourt need.
