According to Front Office Sports, taunting, illegal celebrations and fighting will once again be a major point of emphasis for officials this season. That leaves Kelce and plenty of other emotional players with a simple decision: keep the energy, but be a little more careful about how they show it.

NFL Plans to Keep Crackdown in Place
Front Office Sports reported that the league and its competition committee will continue emphasizing sportsmanship-related rules in 2026.
That includes taunting, illegal celebrations and fighting.
The NFL has been trying to strike a balance between allowing players to celebrate and penalizing gestures or actions directed at opponents. League officials made sportsmanship a priority last season as well, and that approach is not changing.
For Kelce, that is especially relevant because he already learned how expensive one celebration can become.

Kelce Was Fined After Eagles Game
Kelce was fined $14,491 after the Chiefs’ September 2025 game against the Eagles for an obscene gesture toward the Philadelphia sideline.
The gesture came after a 23-yard gain. Officials did not flag Kelce during the game, but the NFL later reviewed the play and issued the fine.
That came during a rough afternoon for Kelce, who later had a pass near the goal line deflect off his hands and become an interception.
The message from the league was already clear then. It is even clearer now.
Players can celebrate, but anything that crosses into taunting or an inappropriate gesture could bring a 15-yard penalty, a fine or both.
Kelce is hardly the only player who will have to adjust, but his style makes him an obvious example. He has never played quietly, and there is little reason to expect that to suddenly change.
The challenge in 2026 will be finding the line between emotion and something the NFL believes has gone too far.
